Running for Hope: A Family’s Race Against Cancer

Cancer has taken far too much from my family. We have lost loved ones- both young and grown - far too soon. Each loss leaves an ache that never really heals, and a determination that their lives, their struggles, must mean something more.

This October, I will be lacing up my running shoes alongside my two children, Ali and Sasha, to take part in Race for the Kids in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital. Together, we are running not only in memory of those we’ve lost but in hope for every child still fighting, for every family sitting by a hospital bed, for every future that deserves to be cancer-free.

Great Ormond Street is building a new Children’s Cancer Centre, a place that will bring together world-leading research, life-saving treatments, and compassionate care under one roof. This centre will mean that children and families don’t just fight cancer- they fight with the best chance of winning.

For us, this is personal. My children know what loss feels like, but they also know the power of love, hope, and action. That’s why they are running with me. They’re not just doing it for themselves- they’re doing it for kids they’ll never meet but want to help.

We can’t do this alone. We need your support. Every step we run is powered by your generosity. Every pound donated brings us closer to building a centre where no child has to face cancer without the very best care and hope for a cure.

RBC Race for the Kids 2025

GOSH already cares for children with the hardest to treat cancers, and new treatments are giving hope to children and their families. But these advances have outstripped GOSH's current cancer facilities.

We need a new home for breakthrough treatments and pioneering research, so we can save more children's lives. And because cancer shouldn't get to steal anyone's childhood, we need a place that's more than a hospital – a place that's a school, a playground, a garden, and so much more.
