I'm joining the race to help beat childhood cancer

I’m taking part in Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity’s family festival and fun run, RBC Race for the Kids, to raise money to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Why I'm taking part in RBC Race for the Kids

In early 2023, Travis AKA Big T spent his 9th birthday and a week in hospital after becoming very poorly with Kawasaki disease. It was an incredibly scary time for our family, as it’s rare for a child of his age to develop this condition. He was under the care of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), both during his stay and throughout the following 12 months, where he had frequent heart check-ups to ensure there was no lasting damage.
The care and support we received from both North Middlesex Hospital and GOSH was outstanding, and Big T was looked after brilliantly. When I mentioned this race to him, he immediately said he wanted to take part — in his own words, “to give something back.”
So here we are: Big T , full of determination, and his ever-so-slightly chubby dad (who will be doing his best to keep up!) are running together to raise money for this amazing cause.
Any support you can give will mean the world to us both and will go towards helping other children and families receive the same incredible care we did and to help GOSH build a new Children’s Cancer Centre.

RBC Race for the Kids 2025

GOSH already cares for children with the hardest to treat cancers, and new treatments are giving hope to children and their families. But these advances have outstripped GOSH's current cancer facilities.

We need a new home for breakthrough treatments and pioneering research, so we can save more children's lives. And because cancer shouldn't get to steal anyone's childhood, we need a place that's more than a hospital – a place that's a school, a playground, a garden, and so much more.
