I'm joining the race to help beat childhood cancer

I’m taking part in Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity’s family festival and fun run, RBC Race for the Kids, to raise money to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

10 years on...

10 years ago GOSH saved Jo's cousin Chloe's life - she was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive brain tumour on January 14th 2015, and after surgeries, lengthy hospital stays and multiple rounds of chemo, she rang the all clear bell six months later.

In 2023 our son Jesse was born. He spent the first year of his life in and out of hospital contracting meningitis at just 7 weeks old. He was referred to Great Ormond Street at 9 months old and since then GOSH have helped him enormously through regular appointments and so far 2 surgeries, with another one in the planning. Whilst he is by no means the most ill child they treat, we've always been treated with enormous kindness, patience and knowledge and are so grateful for the improvement in his health.

Today we are running alongside Chloe to celebrate her life and to raise awareness and funds for the incredible work that GOSH do and continue to do.

RBC Race for the Kids 2025

GOSH already cares for children with the hardest to treat cancers, and new treatments are giving hope to children and their families. But these advances have outstripped GOSH's current cancer facilities.

We need a new home for breakthrough treatments and pioneering research, so we can save more children's lives. And because cancer shouldn't get to steal anyone's childhood, we need a place that's more than a hospital – a place that's a school, a playground, a garden, and so much more.
