I'm joining the race to help beat childhood cancer

I’m taking part in Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity’s family festival and fun run, RBC Race for the Kids, to raise money to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Ortus Simons came into this world far too soon. Born prematurely after a serious car accident, his start in life was a fight for survival. Thanks to the incredible work of medics and doctors, both he and his mother were saved—a moment that his family would forever be grateful for.
As he grew, so did his spirit. Each year, Ortus and his family joined the GOSH Race for Kids, raising awareness and support for children battling cancer. With the love of his school, his community, and his MX moto family and friends, Ortus became a symbol of resilience and kindness.
In 2024, his dedication and courage were recognised with a Young People’s Award, celebrating not only his survival but his determination to give back. Now, the tradition continues—racing, riding, and inspiring others—proving that even the smallest beginnings can lead to the strongest hearts

RBC Race for the Kids 2025

GOSH already cares for children with the hardest to treat cancers, and new treatments are giving hope to children and their families. But these advances have outstripped GOSH's current cancer facilities.

We need a new home for breakthrough treatments and pioneering research, so we can save more children's lives. And because cancer shouldn't get to steal anyone's childhood, we need a place that's more than a hospital – a place that's a school, a playground, a garden, and so much more.
