I'm joining the race to help beat childhood cancer

I’m taking part in Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity’s family festival and fun run, RBC Race for the Kids, to raise money to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

RBC Race for the Kids 2025

On 11th October, me and my extended family will be doing the Great Ormond Street Hospital race for the kids as a way of saying thank you to the care they’ve provided for our family.  The race marks 10 years since my (at the time 9 month) cousin Chloe was treated by GOSH for a brain tumour, with 2 operations and a year of inpatient treatment at their cancer centre.

More recently, many of you will know GOSH have looked after my nephew Jesse through 2 surgeries and ongoing treatment of complications from meningitis at 7 weeks. As Jesse awaits his 3rd surgery at GOSH we are continually grateful for the care and expertise of the nurses and doctors treating him, and this a small way of giving back.

Whatever you think of the NHS and your experience with them, the individual people working in healthcare services are nothing short of amazing - if you are one of them,  let this be my thank you to you too.
