I'm joining the race to help beat childhood cancer

I’m taking part in Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity’s family festival and fun run, RBC Race for the Kids, to raise money to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Why we are doing this!

Since the age of two, Kyra has always had a natural desire to help and give back, particularly to children and especially those supported by Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

When we heard about this race, we immediately knew we wanted to take part. It felt like a lovely opportunity to raise as much as we can for such an important cause, while also creating a special mummy-daughter memory together.

As Kyra gets older, she is becoming more aware and appreciative of the blessings and opportunities she has in life. She often looks for little ways to give back to her community; whether that’s putting her pocket money into a charity box, donating toys and clothes she no longer needs, or helping to feed people who are homeless.

For Kyra, it’s never about how much she can give, but simply about doing what she can, in whatever way she can, to make someone else’s day a little easier. We’re incredibly proud of her kind heart and hope that, as she grows, she continues to carry this sense of compassion and generosity with her.

Any support, no matter how big or small, would mean so much to us and would help us raise as much as possible for the children and families who need it most.

RBC Race for the Kids 2026

GOSH already cares for children with the hardest to treat cancers, and new treatments are giving hope to children and their families. But these advances have outstripped GOSH's current cancer facilities.

We need a new home for breakthrough treatments and pioneering research, so we can save more children's lives. And because cancer shouldn't get to steal anyone's childhood, we need a place that's more than a hospital – a place that's a school, a playground, a garden, and so much more.
