I'm joining the race to help beat childhood cancer

I’m taking part in Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity’s family festival and fun run, RBC Race for the Kids, to raise money to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Hudson’s GOSH Journey

My Mummy and I are going to do the 2K run to raise money for Great Ormond Street. 


They saved my life in 2022!

I was diagnosed with a HUS, which stands for Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome, a rare but serious condition where Shiga toxin producing bacteria damages the kidneys filtering system by destroying the red blood cells and causes blood clotting.
This damage led to me having haemolytic anaemia (red blood cell destruction), thrombocytopenia (low platelet count), and kidney failure. 

I required lots of treatment to help my kidneys and blood transfusions. Our local hospital weren’t medically trained to save me but they rushed me straight to GOSH who had a bed waiting for me in the high dependency section of Eagle ward. 

If it wasn’t for their dedication and care, I wouldn’t be here today being able to run and raise money so they can help all the other children. 

RBC Race for the Kids 2025

GOSH already cares for children with the hardest to treat cancers, and new treatments are giving hope to children and their families. But these advances have outstripped GOSH's current cancer facilities.

We need a new home for breakthrough treatments and pioneering research, so we can save more children's lives. And because cancer shouldn't get to steal anyone's childhood, we need a place that's more than a hospital – a place that's a school, a playground, a garden, and so much more.
