I'm joining the race to help beat childhood cancer

I’m taking part in Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity’s family festival and fun run, RBC Race for the Kids, to raise money to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Why I'm doing this: for the sunshine kids

Last summer I was in a serious car crash that shattered my pelvis, leaving me unable to walk. I spent many weeks in the hospital and rehab centre, followed by months of recovery. It was one of the hardest experiences of my life.

This journey is what inspired me to start as a volunteer at Great Ormond Street Hospital. I meet children who face far tougher battles than I did - children who spend months in hospital, undergoing treatments most adults would struggle with. And yet, despite everything, every child I have met during my volunteering is a ray of sunshine: so incredibly brave and positive.

These children and their families inspire me. They are the reason I am taking part in the RBC Race for the Kids.

Because I am still recovering from my injuries, I'll be walking - not running - 2K. It might not sound far, but it has taken me a long time to get here. I am aiming to raise £429: one pound for every day between the day I came home from the hospital and this race.

Please support me if you can. Together, we can help bring more sunshine into the lives of these incredible kids. 💛
