I'm joining the race to help beat childhood cancer

I’m taking part in Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity’s family festival and fun run, RBC Race for the Kids, to raise money to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Why I'm taking part in RBC Race for the Kids

As you may know, Arlo was diagnosed with an incredibly rare immunodeficiency, which meant that he needed chemotherapy and a transplant to survive. We have been so incredibly grateful for the work and the support that Great Ormond Street gave us as a family while Arlo underwent his transplant. Although Arlo did not have cancer, the team, through charity, were able to provide the resources and research in order for Arlo’s treatment to even exist. The care and support we received from the team at GOSH when Arlo was diagnosed with such a rare condition was just incredible. Because of research, our child is still alive.
We have given back as much as we can, but we want to continue helping GOSH so that another child can be given the same chance of life, and another family can receive the care and support that meant so much to us. That’s why, as a family, we are taking part in this 2k walk, to raise vital funds, say thank you, and help GOSH keep changing children’s lives.

RBC Race for the Kids 2025

GOSH already cares for children with the hardest to treat cancers, and new treatments are giving hope to children and their families. But these advances have outstripped GOSH's current cancer facilities.

We need a new home for breakthrough treatments and pioneering research, so we can save more children's lives. And because cancer shouldn't get to steal anyone's childhood, we need a place that's more than a hospital – a place that's a school, a playground, a garden, and so much more.
