Why I'm taking part in RBC Race for the Kids
We are taking part in RBC Race for the kids as over Imogen's lifetime she has been cared for by the team at GOSH on multiple occasions. The most recent time was due to Imogen being unwell over a number of years, unexplained weight loss, nausea, vomiting and severe abdominal pain. All had been deemed as functional until GOSH got involved. They found Barrium was stuck in her appendix, something our local hospital couldn't treat due to the complexity. Whilst having her surgery the surgeons discovered scarring to her appendix. Thankfully the appendix was healthy, but they advised it was mimicking an appendicitis pain for all those years. Due to the rarity of the condition and time it took to diagnose they will now be carrying out a case study to help other families in the same position.
Now Imogen is fully recovered from her operation Imogen, myself and my husband want to give back to GOSH for all the help they have given us as a family over the years.
We hope you can support us with our fundraising efforts.
RBC Race for the Kids 2025
GOSH already cares for children with the hardest to treat cancers, and new treatments are giving hope to children and their families. But these advances have outstripped GOSH's current cancer facilities.
We need a new home for breakthrough treatments and pioneering research, so we can save more children's lives. And because cancer shouldn't get to steal anyone's childhood, we need a place that's more than a hospital – a place that's a school, a playground, a garden, and so much more.
Please consider sponsoring me. Together, we can build it. Together, we can help beat childhood cancer.
